Loughside Farm is a family run business between father and daughter, Trevor and Rachael. The farm has been in the family for 6 generations and has evolved greatly over the last 50 years.
Originally a modest dairy farm and grain mill which was powered by a water wheel the farm grew intensively into a major dairy farm expanding to over 100 cows and encompassing 3 dairy herds and 2 other farms.
The farm then diversified in the early 90’s and became a popular open farm offering the public viewing of farm animals, bouncy castle, party facilities, roundabout, play park and train rides with as many as 20,000 visitors a year.
Now the farm is diversifying into self-catering accommodation allowing people to enjoy a leisurely and affordable stay in the local countryside while also being in close proximity to the top tourist attractions in Northern Ireland such as the exhilarating Gobbins Cliff Path in Islandmagee just a mile away. Its location makes it extremely easy to locate and travel to tourist attractions throughout the area. It is also ideally located for bird watching, walking, cycling and motorcycling holidays.
Now farming again on a smaller scale there are Pedigree Dexter cows and sheep including donkeys and horses which you can see on your stay.
The whole family are also huge motorcycle enthusiasts and have a large collection of vintage and modern bikes and will be expanding the business to include motorcycle tours in the near future.
